Abu Dhabi Police Develops Virtual Simulation Systems and Scenarios for Personnel Training

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Police, through the Virtual Training Center at the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences, has developed virtual simulation systems and scenarios for use in training and qualification operations. These systems have played a significant role in enhancing the skills of personnel and have positively reflected on achieving the goals and aspirations of the General Command in its continuous improvement and development of police and security work.

Major General Thani Butti Al Shamsi, Director of the Saif bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences at the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, emphasized the leadership’s focus on future foresight in preparing and training police cadres who can keep pace with new developments and are capable of facing challenges with high professionalism.

He highlighted the Academy’s commitment to utilizing the latest advanced technologies in training, most notably virtual training, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). He described these as vital requirements for creating an interactive environment between the trainee and the educational material, which enhances comprehension and allows for the development of virtual laboratories and scenarios at minimal costs. This, he noted, contributes to raising capabilities, efficiency, and skills in crisis management.

He explained that the training system is extensive and multifaceted, being an important part of the Abu Dhabi Police. It includes a large number of military and civilian personnel across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Through this system, training programs are designed based on studies of influential institutional factors, such as the needs of various sectors and organizational units, government directives, security challenges, police and security future foresight, and outstanding global practices.

Talal Al Ahmad: Investing in an Advanced Digital Infrastructure for Training Platforms

Colonel Talal Abdul Rahim Al Ahmad, Director of the Virtual Training Center, explained that this type of training is one of the most modern methods in the global training process. He stated that the Abu Dhabi Police has adopted the latest international technologies, including virtual reality training using VR, simulation, and AI technologies, in addition to remote training via video communication technologies at the Virtual Training Center.

He noted that the Center was launched with the establishment of the Academy in March 2020, a modern unit introduced during the spread of COVID-19. The adoption of virtual operations was perfectly timed, allowing for the activation of the most advanced training methods to reduce direct human contact. Training courses were converted from face-to-face classroom settings to video communication technologies, which ensured the continuity of remote training. This contributed to the success of specialized training processes at the highest levels, without delay or interruption.
